Soccer League Rules

  1. The Field of Play
    Fields #1 & #2 - 75 yards x 40 yards
    Fields #3 & #4 - 40 yards x 30 yds (large field divided by 2)
  2. The Ball
    All Under 13 and up Teams - Size 5 Ball
    All Under 8 to Under 12 Teams - Size 4 Ball
  3. Number of Players on Field (including Keeper)
    Youth - U8 - U9 - 6 players
    Youth - U10 - U13 - 8 players
    Youth - U14 & Up - 7 players
    Men's - A, B, C-I & C-II- 7 players
    Women's, Adult Co-Ed - 8 players
  4. Roster Size/Eligibility
    Maximum Roster Size:
    U8 & U9 - 14 players
    U10 & Up - 18 players
    All Youth Players must have USYSA Insurance, No Exceptions!
    No changes on Roster after 5th game of season
  5. Substitutions
    Substitutions are unlimited and may be made on the fly.
    Ball must be put in play 5 seconds after ball is set.
    No subs on penalty kicks unless an injured keeper.
  6. Players Equipment
    Shinguards must be worn by all players on the field with socks worn over the shinguards.
    Shoes - only flats or turf shoes, no cleats.
    All team uniforms must be of the same color and have a number.
  7. Duration of the Game
    Games shall consist of two halves of 25 minutes each.
    The referee has the power to delay or start the game and to shorten the game accordingly in case of delays.
  8. Ball in and out of play
    The ball is in play if ball stays inside the line markings (just like outdoors).
    If ball goes out of play, a throw-in is awarded.
    If ball goes beyond the goal-line, a goalkick or cornerkick will be awarded.
    If the ball hits the net above:
    * inside penalty box, ball must be placed outside the penalty box (top of arc).
    * outside the penalty box, ball must be placed at the point where ball hit the net.
    All Free Kicks, CornerKicks, Kick-Ins are direct.
    No goal can be scored off a Kick-Off or goal kick.
    Defensive wall must be 15 feet from the ball.
  9. Point System
    Win=3 points Tie=1 point Loss=0 points
  10. Offsides
    Will not be enforced.
  11. No Slide Tackles are allowed. Goalkeepers cannot slide tackle outside the penalty box.
  12. No Spitting
    Automatic 2 minute penalty for spitting on the field of play or in the players’ boxes.
    This rule will be strictly enforced to allow for better playing environment.
  13. Time Penalties/Suspensions
    Blue Card - 2 minute penalty (releasable if opposing team scores).
    2nd Blue Card to same player- Same as a yellow card.
    Yellow Card - 3 minute penalty unreleasable.
    2nd Yellow Card to same player - Same as a red card.
    Red Card - 5 minute penalty unreleasable, player is out of the game. Player sits out a minimum of one game and more is possible, depending on severity of the infraction.
  14. Players on multiple teams
    A player may not play on more than one team in the same age or level division.
  15. Co-Ed Adult Teams
    Three women must be on the field at all times.
  16. For Goalkeepers only
    Hand to Hand - a goalkeeper having attained full control of the ball in his hands, and having released the ball from his hands, cannot touch the ball with his hands again until it has been touched by a player from the other team or there has been a stoppage of play (whistle). Any infringement will result in a direct free kick at the top of the arc.
    5 Seconds - If the goalkeeper has obtained full possession of the ball, and delays more than 5 seconds putting the ball into play, a free kick from the top of the arc will be awarded to the opposing team.
    Punting - Not Allowed. Drop Kick is allowed.
    Pass Back to the Goalkeeper - Not Allowed except when goalie acts as field player and only uses feet. Free direct kick from top of the arc.
    Goal Box (Crease) - No one from the attacking team will be allowed in the small box.
    Goalkeeper time penalty - If a keeper is given a Blue or Yellow time penalty, someone else from the team that is on the field can serve the penalty. If the Goalkeeper is given a Red Card, he must be replaced.
    Bringing the Ball Inside the Penalty Box - a goalkeeper cannot bring the ball inside the box and pick it up with his hands. If a goalkeeper brings the ball inside the box, the goalkeeper MUST play the ball with his feet only.
